I have seen the pigeons in downtown Boulder swoop and fly from building to building in packs. I know that pigeons are germ infested city rats, but you can't help but see the joy in their aerial tumblings. But this takes the cake. Absolutely stunning.
Sitting down at 11:30 and expecting brilliance in a blog post is a huge disappointment. But it is the whole point of NaBloPoMo. Just write!
For the third time in an hour, my dog has randomly started barking at something only she can hear. Shut up, dog.
So glad that we moved from the stuffy rehearsal room to the choir loft at the church for Sine Nomine practice. Instant morale boost - you can't help but sound terrific in that space.
Airing our dirty laundry - there is clean laundry all over the house. The couch is covered with towels and the bedroom has three overflowing baskets of clothes. If we had more baskets, we would never fold clothes.
I am about ready to finish The Diamond Age by Neal Stephenson. Look for a review here soon. I have nine books to read by the end of the year to make my goal. I am looking for recommendations on short interesting books. Leave 'em if you got 'em.
When I was in elementary school, I had two favorite educational films. One featured all sorts of things magnified into futuristic landscapes using an electron microscope and the other was super slow-mo film capturing various things like bullets being fired through an apple. This collection of high speed photographs clearly invokes the latter. Super sweet.
The best response I read to Clay Shirky's sexist rant against women. I am putting out the best response - not the link to Shirky's essay. If you want to read that drivel, you can find the link there.
The funniest thing I saw all week, hands down. Oh Stephen, is there nothing you won't do?
Welcome to all the new readers of my blog! I've noticed an increase in traffic over the last few days and I am honored to be a part of your day in even a small way!
In lieu of a real blog entry today (more to come as the week progresses) here are a few odds and ends:
- For all those who prayed for Liz, thank you. Everything is back to normal (which for her, is consistently good) and she is scheduled for release tomorrow.
- We are smitten. We are in love. I can't say any more even though I am nearly bursting at the seams. Hopefully more good news to report as the weeks progress.
- Try beef stroganoff made with buffalo sirloin sometime. You will not be disappointed and it's better for you anyway.
- It's always the best when you hear stories about someone you've known all your life that you've never heard before. In this case, it is my dad. Check out his blog if you get a moment.
- And lastly, as a present to all of you who have ever hung out on YouTube and shudder at the horrible comments. These girls have it going on.
Thank you again to all the new readers! Hope to see you again soon!
My name is Sarah Hassell. I could use all sorts of labels to define myself, but who needs more labels in their life? I sure don't. Instead, join me on my blogging adventure where you'll often find me talking about my heart transplant, my crafts, cooking, design, my political beliefs, God and just about any other random thing that I happen to want to share.
If you want the skinny on my heart transplant, there are an assortment of posts on the subject below. It is by my no means exhaustive as I am still writing the story myself.
